The reprisals, the job losses, the threats, the blacklistings, the financial pain, the social isolation, the psychological scars – in harrowing detail Mueller highlights the human suffering behind the newspaper headlines of ‘scandal’, ‘corruption’, ‘fraud’, and ‘abuse’. It makes for riveting but painful reading.
