Matthew Cunneen

Matthew Cunneen is a historian of convict Australia and a research editor for the Australian Dictionary of Biography at the National Centre of Biography, ANU. Interested in forms of convict mobility, his Honours thesis explored the lives of people of colour transported to Australia. Beginning next year, his PhD thesis will investigate the convicts that left Australia. He is co-editor of the ANU Historical Journal II and guest co-editor of a special number of the Australian Journal of Biography and History on convict lives, to be published in 2023, with contributions from early career researchers to field-leading experts.
