A dilemma

Dear Editor,

Writing about land management issues in Indigenous Australia is replete with sensitivities relating to the complex intersection of ideologies of the environment, development, and Aboriginality. My review (February 2013) sought to balance the strongly asserted arguments from a range of authors in People on Country: Vital Landscapes, Indigenous Futures in favour of customary forms of economic activity (i.e. where Aboriginal people do not necessarily engage fully with the wider Australian economy, at least not in the conventional ways of career development and financial independence sought by most Australians) with counter-arguments that are not as readily apparent in the book.

  • I don't' usually enjoy stumbling on syntactical errors in ABR but Patrick McCaughey's second sentence in his review of T. J. Clarke's
Picasso and Truth filled me with an odd delight. What a marvellous setting for Picasso's first wedding!
