Clive James is a critic, poet, author, television performer, journalist, and lyricist. He was born and raised in Sydney, where he attended Sydney University. In 1961 he immigrated to England where he studied at Cambridge University. Since this time he has produced many collections of essays and volumes of autobiography, four novels, and a collection of travel writing, all while working as a prominent television performer. Since 2001 his poetry has often appeared in Australian Book Review.
